WRITING SLOPE

Having been supplied with the technical drawings for this piece of furniture I was required to work accordingly to all scales and measurements given.
The brief was simple; construct and produce a fully functional writing slope with the choice of our own materials. I decided to go for a more classical and traditional looking piece considering the type of furniture is of a more dated era. I went for a higher quality American Black Walnut board which had a very rich and deep grain with the inclusion of metallic coloured ripples which ran along the side of the piece. The timber looked very nice with the deep and almost burgundy red leather so I decided to use that for the top which ended up looking amazing. I then had to choose a handle which originally I was going to make myself, however I felt the brass hinges looked out of place so I decided to use a very detailed brass handle to help add contrast to the piece. 
Overall I feel this was one of the best pieces I have ever produced and would love the opportunity to manufacture it again.
