European Oak
Having been supplied with the technical drawings for this piece my brief was to produce this beautiful product to the exact scales and measurements given. However, I was required to come up with my own lapped and through dovetail measurements for the drawers and carcase.
Being one of the later pieces I constructed I felt it was one of the most clean and accurate products I have produced with sharp and solid dovetails all around. The piece included a few different joints including through tenons which were quite fun to produce; I decided to use black walnut wedges in the tenons to spread out the tenons forming a stronger hold and to also add some contrast within the piece which worked in harmony with the fumed oak leg supports.
If I were to improve this piece further I would have liked to have included some style of design on the top such as walnut inlaying or veneering to add some more aesthetics and design to the piece.
